For a second year, Greek Women in STEM will award early-stage Greek scientists with five €200 award per category as part of the “She STEMs” symposium, with the support of our sponsors. The categories are the following along with their related fields:
Life Sciences (Medicine, Biology, Pharmacy, etc.)
Environmental Sciences (Geology, Agriculture, Aquaculture, etc.)
Formal Sciences (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry)
Engineering
Technology
EXTENDED Deadline for applications: 30.11.2022, 11:59pm Greece.
Application terms:
- Applicants must be Greek citizens and hold Greek citizenship or be citizens of other countries who have legally resided in Greece for at least 15 years.
- Candidates should be no later than 10 years after obtaining their first degree (BSc.). If there is a special reason for exceeding 10 years, please mention it in the cover letter. (e.g., maternity leave, accident, etc.)
- Applicants must have registered for at least one of the two days of the symposium (either in person or online, when registrations open).
- Candidates must have completed the application form and submitted the supporting documents exactly as instructed.
- Applicants have the right to participate in only one of the above categories.
- Applicants should have at least a Master’s degree (or equivalent).
- Previously awarded scientists cannot apply.
Application Components:
The guidelines should be met. Should the applicant fail to follow the guidelines, the application will be considered invalid.
Resume: A single file in pdf format. Maximum number of pages: 2
Required fields:
- Name/surname, address and institution where they work/study.
- Introductory paragraph and brief description of why they should be awarded (200 words max).
- Studies.
- Work experience.
- List of publications in google scholar format, max 5 publications (or an electronic link, for a greater number of publications) or portfolio for technology and similar fields.
- Impact (Accomplishments, Awards).
Scoring and Selection:
Greek Women in STEM supports young scientists with great potential to contribute to their field. Beyond the minimum eligibility criteria mentioned in the application terms, candidates will be graded based on the following criteria:
- Introductory paragraph/cover letter and declaration of candidacy.
- Studies: It will be of major importance whether the applicant is actively working towards a doctoral thesis or has already obtained a doctoral degree.
- Mobility during studies.
- Location: residing in Greece during the current academic year will be awarded more points.
- Work experience and work mobility.
- Publications/portfolio and the role in them (project leader, first or corresponding author etc.).
- Honors/ Awards/ Achievements.
- Contribution to public benefit/volunteer programs relevant to the applicant’s field.
