Science is the search for truth. Rather, the path to the search for truth. You will rarely find absolute truth, maybe never. Most likely you will be the one throwing some crumbs to mark a path and then birds will just eat them. But if you are bold enough and leave little marbles behind, others will find them and follow the path you marked. They will then put theirs and one day the destination will be reached. What is the destination? Hard to tell. All you know is that the other directions are dead ends.
In this process, the more you learn, discover or create, the fewer people will understand what you are doing and why you are doing it. One day you will receive awards and distinctions. Those who love you will celebrate them, not because they know what you have achieved to deserve them, but because your joy fills them with joy!
Find friends! You need companions in science. People same or more specialized than you who can understand you but also argue about any strange idea you might have. They will inspire and motivate you, and they will combine their own dreams with yours to make something bigger together, something that will improve our world. Your discussions will be supported by data, facts and evidence. Take care of these people, if you can. They are your valuable partners, your mentors, your companions along the way.
Three categories of people: the next generations of scientists, the beloved relatives and friends and the valuable collaborators. Do not disregard any of these groups. The first are your future, the second your support and the latter your fuel.
You are not alone.
