Myrto Patraskaki

Myrto Patraskaki Ph.D.

Manager in Podcast Production and Public Relations

My name is  Myrto, I am a Biochemist specializing in Molecular Biology. I started my studies in Greece and in 2019 I moved to Luxembourg to pursue my Ph.D. in Neuroscience during which I studied a rare pediatric neurodegenerative syndrome. I am currently working as a Senior Scientist at a biotech company in Strasbourg (France) where I use stem cell-derived neural models to study neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric diseases.

I joined Greek women in STEM because I wanted to help younger women enter the scientific field but also because I needed to connect with other women scientists with whom we share common values and thoughts. At the moment I am co-lead in the Podcast production and member of the public relations team.

Apart from science, maybe the thing that characterizes me the most is my love for animals. At the moment, I have two roommates, Ginger the cat and Yugi the dog  (in another life I would work in a shelter). In my daily life you will see me all day with headphones; the music only stops when I talk to people or when I sleep. To rest my mind I read as many books as I can, I do pole dancing and go to the gym. Finally, I am absolutely addicted to traveling and I try to travel as often (and sometimes as far) as possible.
