Danai Korre Ph.D.
Vice President - Academy & Events
I am a computer science researcher with over a decade of expertise in various domains, including data science, augmented and mixed reality, educational technology, user experience research, and conversational artificial intelligence. My research has made significant contributions to these fields, particularly in educational technology. I hold a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence Applications from the University of Edinburgh and an M.Sc. in Design and Digital Media from the same institution. I am currently a lecturer in Computer Science. My professional background includes serving as a Knowledge Exchange Fellow at the University of Strathclyde and as an Associate Lecturer in Data Science at the University of Edinburgh. Additionally, I have served as an Augmented Reality Lead at EdAR Experiences, an EdTech company. I have also developed strong collaboration links with universities, research institutes, and industrial partners.
I currently hold the role of Vice President for Academy and Events. I am dedicated to promoting STEM opportunities for women by supporting informational activities, sharing the achievements of women, and encouraging young women scientists. My goal is to provide support to others in the STEM field, based on the experiences I lacked as a woman in STEM early in my career.
Driven by a deep curiosity (which is why I pursued a career in research), I am passionately interested in the intersection of technology and creativity. This passion has led me to explore areas such as 3D printing and laser cutting, where I find immense joy in creating innovative designs. Additionally, I am captivated by the vast expanse of the universe and love to capture its beauty through astrophotography, a hobby that fuels my creativity and sense of wonder.
